Governor Glenn Youngkin announced Friday (July 18) that three more Alexandria residents have been selected for state board positions, continuing a notable trend of Northern Virginia appointments that has seen at least 14 Alexandria locals named to state roles in recent weeks.

The latest appointees include Scott Kopple, Senior Director of Government Relations at BWX Technologies, Inc., who will serve on the Virginia Nuclear Energy Consortium Authority. BWX Technologies is a major supplier of nuclear components and fuel to U.S. Navy and commercial nuclear power programs.

The warning, issued at 5:44 PM, covers Alexandria along with Arlington County, northeastern Fairfax County, Falls Church, Washington D.C., and south central Montgomery County in Maryland. Weather officials warn that rainfall rates of 1 to 2 inches within 20 minutes are anticipated, with total additional rainfall amounts of 1 to 3 inches possible across the warned area.
