King Arthur Baking Company is eyeing Old Town to open a new retail store and baking school.
The Vermont-based company selling flour, bakeware and other baking supplies is planning to open a new store in Old Town “late this summer,” a company spokesperson told ALXnow.
The upcoming spot will be King Arthur’s second location combining retail and a baking school, joining a flagship location in Norwich, Vt. The spokesperson declined to comment on the store’s address or estimated opening date.
Classes at the Norwich baking school teach how to make a variety of savory and sweet treats, from ciabatta bread and biscuits to empanadas and pizza. At least one Old Town business, Sur La Table, offers similar culinary classes throughout the week.
The company also confirmed it will be extending its pop-up location in Fairfax Corner through this June. King Arthur previously announced the shop would close last month.
The pop-up has a couple of kid-friendly baking activities planned this month. On Saturday, it’s hosting a Valentine’s Day-themed drop-in baking activity for kids, followed by “Sweet & Salty”-themed classes on Feb. 14 and Feb. 28.
