One person transported to trauma center after firefighters respond to Duke Street crash

At least one person was transported to a local trauma center last night (Tuesday) following a crash on Duke Street.

Alexandria firefighters extricated one passenger from a vehicle and transported one person to a trauma center following the crash, according to firefighters’ union IAFF Local 2141. The crash occurred at the intersection of Duke and N. Ripley streets shortly after 6 p.m., according to scanner traffic.

The crash reportedly involved a black Range Rover and a silver sedan, first responders said on the scanner. A photo shared by the Alexandria Police Department shows heavy damage to the front of the sedan as several firefighters respond to the scene. Smoke was reported emerging from one of the vehicles involved in the crash.

APD briefly closed westbound Duke Street between N. Ripley and S. Reynolds streets to respond to the crash.

The department has not released any further information on the incident or the conditions of those involved at this time.

“Updates will be provided as appropriate,” the department said on Facebook.
