At least one person was transported to a local trauma center last night (Tuesday) following a crash on Duke Street.

Alexandria firefighters extricated one passenger from a vehicle and transported one person to a trauma center following the crash, according to firefighters’ union IAFF Local 2141. The crash occurred at the intersection of Duke and N. Ripley streets shortly after 6 p.m., according to scanner traffic.

A 15-year-old was transported to a nearby hospital with life-threatening injuries last night (Thursday) after being struck by a driver in the Landmark area.

The Alexandria Police Department reported a “serious motor vehicle crash involving a pedestrian” at the intersection of northbound N. Van Dorn Street and Holmes Run Parkway. The crash, which reportedly involved a driver in a silver Honda Civic, happened around 7:12 p.m., according to APD dispatches.

A man who suffered gunshot wounds from a shooting near Potomac Yard last night (Sunday) was transported to the hospital in “serious but stable condition,” according to the Alexandria Police Department.

APD responded to the 400 block of Calvert Avenue just after 9 p.m. last night following multiple reports of gunfire in the area. Upon arrival, officers found a 25-year-old man with gunshot wounds in a parking garage at 450 Swann Avenue and transported him to the hospital. They also recovered shell casings at the scene.

An 18-year-old Alexandria man goes to court this month for allegedly shooting and robbing a man in Alexandria West back in August.

John Montgomery is being held without bond after his Dec. 12 arrest, more than four months after the Aug. 19 shooting and robbery in an apartment parking lot at the 3200 block of S. 28th Street.

An Alexandria police officer and another driver have been transported to the hospital after a crash this morning in Old Town.

The crash between an Alexandria Police Department cruiser and a van was reported at around 10 a.m. near the intersection of S. Patrick Street (Route 1) and Franklin Street. The officer suffered a head injury, according to Alexandria Fire Department dispatches.

The Alexandria Police Department is investigating the shooting of two men near the Winkler Botanical Preserve in the city’s West End on Thursday morning (Dec. 26).

APD was called at around 9 a.m. for a 19-year-old male suffering gunshot wounds to one of his legs and arms in the parking lot in the 5400 block of Roanoke Avenue. The victim was transported to Inova Fairfax Hospital, and shell casings were recovered at the scene, according to radio dispatches.

A U.S. Capitol Police motorcycle officer was injured in a crash in Del Ray Monday morning (Dec. 2).

The male officer sustained minor injuries in the crash and the driver of the vehicle remained at the scene, according to the Alexandria Police Department. There’s no word from APD on who hit who, and charges have not been filed at this time.

Lauren Johnson-Lavender, a nurse from Mashpee, Massachusetts, died at the scene after the car she was traveling in, a Lexus SUV, was rear-ended by a Dodge Ram at around 5:35 p.m., according to VSP. The Lexus was stopped in traffic, and once hit by the Ram created a domino effect and it then rear-ended a Ford F-150.

VSP said that the Dodge Ram went “airborne.”
