JUST IN: Two men shot near Winkler Botanical Preserve in Alexandria’s West End

The Alexandria Police Department is investigating the shooting of two men near the Winkler Botanical Preserve in the city’s West End on Thursday morning (Dec. 26).

APD was called at around 9 a.m. for a 19-year-old male suffering gunshot wounds to one of his legs and arms in the parking lot in the 5400 block of Roanoke Avenue. The victim was transported to Inova Fairfax Hospital, and shell casings were recovered at the scene, according to radio dispatches.

At around the same time, another gunshot victim, a 21-year-old male, checked himself into Virginia Hospital Center in Arlington. The victim reportedly told police that he was shot in the area of Roanoke Avenue in Alexandria, according to dispatch.

“The two men are known to each other and APD is investigating the connection,,” APD said in a release.

No information on a suspect was released.
