
A man allegedly stabbed his 21-year-old son in the arm with a pocket knife in a West End apartment on Sunday evening (June 29) before turning the knife on himself, ALXnow has learned.

The Alexandria Police Department was notified at around 5:45 p.m. of a “hysterical” 911 call. The caller reportedly said that the suspect stabbed his son in the arm in an apartment in the 6000 block of Edsall Road and then fled the scene, according to APD dispatches.
The suspect was located inside the apartment building with what appeared to be multiple self-inflicted stab wounds to his chest. He was transported to Inova Fairfax Hospital, according to dispatch.

APD released the following message on social media after the incident:
There is a significant police presence in the 6000 block of Edsall Rd.Police are investigating a felonious assault where 2 males were located with stab wounds. Anyone with information, please call 911. There is no further information available at this time.

“If you are a neighbor and know that an abusive incident is occurring, call the police immediately,” the city said. “Calling the police is simply the most effective way to protect the victim and children from immediate harm.”
