Three arrested after teen stabbed in Alexandria’s West End

Two teenagers and an adult were arrested and charged with malicious wounding after an alleged attempted robbery that left a teenager with non-life-threatening stab wounds in Alexandria’s West End.

The victim reported the incident to police at around 3:20 p.m. Thursday, April 23 in the 2100 block of N. Early Street, which is near the intersection with W. Braddock Road. The victim told police he was approached by four Hispanic males, and that one of them — wearing a black ski mask and holding a knife — stabbed him in the face, according to Alexandria Police Department dispatches.

Driver sentenced in Alexandria crash that killed pedestrian on sidewalk

A driver has been sentenced for a fatal crash that killed a pedestrian walking on a sidewalk in April 2025, according to the Alexandria Office of the Commonwealth’s Attorney.

Jilmar Doria Medina, 43, of Accokeek, Md., was sentenced April 9 in Alexandria Circuit Court to six years in prison. Medina was convicted on a felony charge of aggravated involuntary manslaughter and a misdemeanor charge of driving while intoxicated with a blood alcohol content of 0.15-0.20 after a four-day jury trial in December 2025. He is being held without bail at the Alexandria jail pending his transfer to prison.

UPDATED: No charges sought after vehicle crash into building in Old Town

One minor injury was reported after a vehicle crashed into a building at the corner of King and Washington Streets in Old Town.

The Alexandria Police and Fire Departments were called to the 600 block of King Street at 1:34 p.m. and found a two-vehicle crash involving a green SUV with Maryland tags and a gray sedan with Virginia tags. The gray vehicle had come to rest against the side of 631 King Street, home to Lily’s Chocolate and Coffee. Staff at the shop said they are still open and that nothing was damaged.

Two men charged after woman fights off armed robbery attempt in Braddock neighborhood

A D.C. man and an Alexandria man are facing multiple charges after an attempted armed robbery in Alexandria’s Braddock neighborhood, according to a recently released search warrant affidavit.

The victim reported to the Alexandria Police Department that on Sunday, March 8, masked men assaulted her and attempted to rob her. The victim told police she was in her car in the 1200 block of Wythe Street when she was approached by two men wearing masks, and that one of them “grabbed her by the throat and told her to pay her $30 that she owed him,” according to the affidavit.

No bond for D.C. man arrested for food truck break-in on Eisenhower Avenue

A 28-year-old D.C. man is being held without bond after allegedly breaking into a food truck parked at a storage facility on Eisenhower Avenue last month, according to a recently-released Alexandria Police search warrant affidavit.

The suspect has been held without bond since his arrest in the early morning hours of Monday, March 2. Just before midnight, the Alexandria Police Department responded to a storage facility in the 4900 block of Eisenhower Avenue for a larceny from a vehicle call. The victim told police he could see someone in a construction vest inside his food truck on a surveillance camera, according to the search warrant affidavit.

Police investigate after shots fired in Alexandria West

No injuries have been reported after gunshots were fired in the Alexandria West neighborhood yesterday (Thursday), according to police.

Officers responded to the shots fired report in the area of Reading Avenue and Winston Court around 7 p.m. Police radio dispatches indicate officers received multiple calls about a group of males wearing hoodies, other dark-colored clothing and ski masks fleeing the area of the Shops at Mark Center shopping center. One caller reported hearing at least three gunshots.

Alexandria man scammed of $480K from person he met on Tinder: police

Nearly half a million dollars was stolen from an Alexandria man in a cryptocurrency scam from a person he met on Tinder, according to a recently released search warrant affidavit.

On Jan. 28, the victim reported to the Alexandria Police Department that he had been scammed out of approximately $480,000 of his own money.

Alexandria police chief touts 30% overall crime reduction in 2025

Alexandria Police Chief Tarrick McGuire received praise from City Council Tuesday night for a 30% overall crime reduction in 2025.

In a presentation to City Council, McGuire said that violent crime went down an average of 29%, a difference of 111 offenses. Overall property crime was down by an average of 30%, a difference of more than 1,300 offenses.

Woman assaulted, flashed in West End park assault

Alexandria Police are seeking a suspect in a Tuesday, March 10 assault of a woman around Tarleton Park in the West End.

Police confirmed to ALXnow that officers responded to the assault in the 4400 block of Vermont Avenue around 12 p.m. on March 10. According to scanner traffic, the victim reported she was walking home when a man pulled her pants down. The caller told police the suspect exposed himself.

Silver Spring teen arrested for alleged gun brandishing in Alexandria’s Carlyle neighborhood

An 18-year-old from Silver Spring, Md., was arrested yesterday (Wednesday) for allegedly brandishing a handgun in Alexandria’s Carlyle neighborhood, according to the Alexandria Police Department.

No one was seriously injured during the incident, which occurred in the 800 block of John Carlyle Street around 7:40 p.m. Wednesday. The victim told police that he did not know the suspect, who had pulled out a handgun and cocked it, according to an APD radio dispatch.

Alexandria man charged after allegedly firing gun in Landmark apartment

A 33-year-old Alexandria man is facing a felony charge after allegedly shooting a gun in his Landmark area apartment last month.

The man was arrested Feb. 13 and charged with unlawfully discharging a firearm in an occupied building, in connection to an overnight incident reported at his residence in the 100 block of S. Van Dorn Street.
