A man was arrested after a stabbing near the Braddock Road Metro station on Tuesday night (July 21).
The victim was stabbed in the neck near benches in the plaza area of the 1200 block of Braddock Place. He was later transported to the hospital, according to Alexandria Police and Fire Department dispatches.
A witness living in an apartment above where the incident occurred called 911 around 8:10 p.m., and the suspect, Maurice Moore, 55, was detained outside of another apartment complex in the same block. The caller also told police that the two men were drinking.
Moore was charged with malicious wounding and is being held without bond and goes to court for a preliminary hearing on Aug 26.
APD announced at 9:23 p.m. on social media that it was investigating a felonious assault and urged residents to avoid the area.
Moore was found guilty of trespassing in 2025, trespassing in 2024 and sentenced to 120 days in jail and a year of unsupervised probation. He was also found guilty of destruction of property and petit larceny in 2021 and trespassing and having an open container in 2020.
