A fairly quiet corner of Seminary Hill off Quaker Lane could become a new cluster of homes built around a new cul-de-sac.

A proposal for a new cluster of homes at 1 and 2 N. Clarens Street, called Clarens Estates, is scheduled for review at the Planning Commission meeting tonight (Tuesday).

Bakery chain Paris Baguette announced that its new Seminary Hill location (4616 Kenmore Avenue) is having a grand opening this weekend.

The location is set to open its doors on Sunday, Dec. 15, at 10 a.m. and the first 50 guests will receive a free pastry.

The Alexandria Police Department (APD) is seeking help from the public finding the driver who fatally struck a 70-year-old-man on N. Jordan Street earlier this month.

Police say the hit-and-run incident took place on Thursday, May 9, but the victim, Alexandria-resident James Thomson, died on Saturday, May 18.

Parts of Seminary Road were shut down last night and early this morning after what police are investigating as a single-vehicle crash following a possible road rage incident near Inova Alexandria Hospital.

Police said there were gunshots reported during the road rage incident. Alexandria Police spokesman Marcel Bassett told ALXnow that the car that crashed was reportedly the victim of the road rage incident and swerved off the road to avoid gunshots.
