Another Alexandria resident has died from COVID-19, and there are now 462 cases of COVID-19 in Alexandria, an increase of 41 cases since yesterday.
There are now 11 fatalities due to the coronavirus in the city. The Alexandria Health Department will not release any information on the fatalities.
That’s the largest increase in the number of probable or positive cases since the first case was announced on March 11. The previous day with the biggest surge was yesterday, when the city announced 38 new cases. There have been 192 new cases in the last week alone.
The Virginia Department of Health also reported that there are 60 COVID-19-related hospitalizations, and there have been 1,719 tests administered. The department also revealed that there have been four small outbreaks in the city, three of which occurred at long term care facilities, and the other being an educational setting.
Starting today, VDH will update its website with the latest COVID-19 fatalities, although 11 people have died in Alexandria, instead of the nine deaths currently displayed.
Statewide, there have been 324 reported deaths, and there are 9,630 cases (9,451 confirmed, 179 probable) and 1,581 hospitalizations (including three probable cases), according to VDH.
