(Updated at 10:30 a.m.) Bouaichi suffered life threatening injuries after shooting himself, according to police.
Alexandria Police arrested Ibrahm Elkahlil Bouaichi on Wednesday for the murder of Karla Elizabeth Dominguez Gonzalez in the West End on July 29.
Alexandria Police Chief Michael L. Brown has been heavily criticized over the public firing of an APD officer for unjustified use of force, resulting in a low approval rating in a recently released internal survey of officers obtained by ALXnow.
The survey, conducted by the Alexandria chapter of the Southern States Police Benevolent Association, was completed by 60 officers throughout the department — among a police force of 320 sworn officers and 138 civilian employees.

According to police, Bouaichi is described as 33-year-old man of Middle Eastern descent, 6 feet 2 inches tall, weighing approximately 180 pounds. Police said Bouaichi should be considered armed and dangerous and poses a potential threat to anyone who comes into contact with him.
An Alexandria man was arrested earlier this year after allegedly attempting to steal more than $40,000 worth of construction equipment from a construction company in the 3600 block of Wheeler Avenue.

The Alexandria man arrested after a July 11 shooting in the Braddock area has been identified as 34-year-old Lewis Dajuan Rose, according to court records.
Rose was arrested after police responded to a call for shots fired at around 12:45 a.m. on July 11. Rose, who suffered a broken bone above his left eye in an altercation in the 800 block of N. Henry Street, was arrested with seven cigarettes that tested positive for being dipped in PCP.

Police notified the public of the incident in the 1200 block of Madison Street in a tweet at 9:35 p.m. The incident is the third shooting in the Braddock area since July 9. One suspect was arrested after a July 11 shooting, and police would not release their identity since it would impede an ongoing investigation.
