Police Chase Ends as West End Murder Suspect Shoots Self

(Updated at 10:30 a.m.) Bouaichi suffered life threatening injuries after shooting himself, according to police.

Alexandria Police arrested Ibrahm Elkahlil Bouaichi on Wednesday for the murder of Karla Elizabeth Dominguez Gonzalez in the West End on July 29.

Bouaichi was transported to a hospital after his car crashed after a car chase in Prince Georges County, Maryland, with Alexandria police officers attached to the FBI’s regional Violent Crimes Task Force.

“Officers approaching the vehicle found Bouaichi with a self-inflicted gunshot wound,” according to a police release. “He was transported to a hospital, where he is currently receiving medical treatment.”

Gonzalez’s death is the first murder in the city this year, and Alexandria Police would not comment on motives or an alleged history with the suspect.
