A man was injured by a gang in a felonious assault early Christmas morning in Alexandria’s Potomac West neighborhood.

A possible home invasion was called in at around 5:45 a.m. from an apartment in the 3800 block of Russell Road. The 30-year-old victim told police that at least six people wearing ski masks and dark clothing were attempting to break into his apartment, and were banging on the front door and breaking windows, according to police dispatch.

An Alexandria man is being held without bond after a 32-year-old man was shot multiple times in Old Town on Sunday night.

Davonte Keys, 30, was arrested and charged with malicious wounding shortly after a man was shot multiple times in the lobby area of the Ladrey Senior Hi-Rise apartment building at 300 Wythe Street.

A 32-year-old man was shot multiple times in Old Town Sunday night, and soon afterward the Alexandria Police Department arrested a person of interest and found a handgun hidden in bushes.

APD was called just after 8 p.m. for the report of a man shot multiple times in the area of the Ladrey Senior Hi-Rise at 300 Wythe Street.

Ethiopian Airlines staff filed a police report Thursday against protestors with the People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals, after coal was dumped inside and outside their office in Del Ray.

Protestors posted “Closed FOR CRUELTY” signs one the business windows and dumped two wheelbarrows of coal in front of the airline’s D.C.-area office at 3133 Mount Vernon Avenue. Some protestors dressed as Santa Claus and Christmas elfs.

A series of fights at Alexandria City High School yesterday injured one student, according to the Alexandria Police Department (APD).

Alexandria City Public Schools (ACPS) closed the school today and tomorrow after a series of “altercations” at the school yesterday (Wednesday). Classes are being taught remotely for the next two days and will resume in-person on Monday, Jan. 6.

A 27-year-old Alexandria man is out on bond after being arrested for the attempted aggravated sexual battery of an incapacitated woman during a Thanksgiving party.

The party was held on Thanksgiving (Nov. 28) in an apartment in the 5600 block of Derby Court.

One person is dead after a fire at a homeless encampment near Holmes Run Park in Alexandria’s West End.

The Alexandria Fire Department discovered the fire under an overpass in the 4600 block of Duke Street, near the entrance to Holmes Run Park and the Shoppes at Foxchase. The Friday night fire was reported at around 10:45 p.m. by a resident in a nearby apartment building, according to AFD dispatches.

Surrounded by city leaders, Alexandria’s new Police Chief Tarrick McGuire was sworn in on Tuesday (Dec. 10).

McGuire is the third permanent chief of the Alexandria Police Department in three  years. The city’s Chief Circuit Court Judge Lisa Kemler swore him in onstage at the amphitheater of the George Washington Masonic National Memorial in Old Town.

More than a dozen Alexandria businesses with skill gaming machines were “put on notice” last month.

The businesses were notified that skill games are illegal gambling machines, and were informed of the legal consequences in a Nov. 19 letter from City Attorney Cheran Ivery, then-Interim Police Chief Raul Pedroso and Commonwealth’s Attorney Bryan Porter.

Alexandria resident Ahmad Reshad Nasseri, 33, was indicted yesterday by a grand jury with two counts of felony rape and one count of felony aggravated sexual battery.

Nasseri, a Lyft driver, allegedly picked up an intoxicated woman at a D.C. restaurant on Friday, July 18, then took her to his apartment on the 5000 block of Seminary Road. Nasseri allegedly assaulted her in the apartment before driving her to the Van Dorn Metro station.

The driver of a vehicle involved in a wrong-way pursuit into Old Town this morning has been arrested, though two other suspects remain at large.

Around 3 a.m. this morning (Monday), Virginia State Police (VSP) attempted to stop a stolen vehicle at the intersection of Route 1 and Quander Road in Fairfax County.
