Alexandria is hosting an Open House on June 11 to share design details for four infrastructure projects near Sanger Avenue and North Beauregard Street in the city’s west end.
The event runs from 6 to 8 p.m. at William Ramsay Recreation Center (5650 Sanger Avenue). Residents can drop by to learn about construction plans, work schedules, parking changes, and trail detours for projects starting this summer.

The City of Alexandria is among thirteen cities across Virginia being classified as “Sanctuary jurisdictions”, according to President Trump’s administration.
“Executive Order 14287: Protecting American Communities from Criminal Aliens requires that a list of states and local jurisdictions that obstruct the enforcement of Federal immigration laws (sanctuary jurisdictions) be published,” according to the Department of Homeland Security’s (DHS) website. “Sanctuary jurisdictions including cities, counties, and states that are deliberately and shamefully obstructing the enforcement of federal immigration laws endangering American communities. Sanctuary cities protect dangerous criminal aliens from facing consequences and put law enforcement in peril”.
For the third consecutive week, the City of Alexandria’s Department of Recreation, Parks, and Cultural Activities has been forced to cancel a community cookout due to inclement weather.
The city announced on Wednesday (May 28) that their next cookout, scheduled for Thursday (May 29) at Mason at Van Dorn (140 South Van Dorn Street) has been cancelled.
