Notes: Alexandria to celebrate World Pride at 8th Annual Pride Fair on June 28

⛈️ Today’s weather: Scattered showers, then showers likely and possibly a thunderstorm after 5 p.m. Some of the storms could produce heavy rainfall. Cloudy through mid-morning, then gradual clearing, with a high near 81 degrees. Calm wind becoming southwest around six mph in the afternoon. The chance of precipitation is 60%—new rainfall amounts between a quarter and half of an inch are possible.

Showers and thunderstorms tonight before 2 a.m., then a chance of showers between 2 a.m. and 5 a.m. Some of the storms could produce heavy rainfall, with lows around 58 degrees. Southeast wind 6 to 10 mph becoming northwest in the evening. Winds could gust as high as 18 mph. The chance of precipitation is 80%. New rainfall amounts between 1 and 2 inches are possible.

In recognition of World Pride Month (June), the City of Alexandria will host its Annual LGBTQIA+ Pride fair on June 28 (Saturday) from 3 to 6 p.m. at City Hall and Market Square (301 King Street).

Attendees will have the opportunity to dance to live music and a DJ, express themselves at the mobile art lab, stop by the food trucks for a bite to eat, and visit the tables of more than 75 Pride-celebrating programs and businesses in Alexandria. Attendees can also head inside City Hall for one of two sessions of Drag Story Hour, at 4 p.m. and 5 p.m., to “imagine a world where everyone can be their authentic selves.” Free and confidential health services will also be available, according to the city.

According to DHS, the list was created to “identify sanctuary jurisdictions, which are determined by factors like compliance with federal law enforcement, information restrictions, and legal protections for illegal aliens”. 🌧️ Alexandria officials are alerting residents to prepare for potential severe weather on Friday. The National Weather Service predicts a chance of thunderstorms and flash flooding in parts of Northern Virginia.
