Alexandria calls off Community Cookout at Ruby Tucker Center due to weather

Due to inclement weather, the City of Alexandria has canceled Wednesday’s (May 21) Community Cookout at the Ruby Tucker Center.

The event was part of the city’s 18th Annual Community Cookout Series and was supposed to happen in the 300 block of Tancil Court. The Department of Recreation, Parks, and Cultural Activities made the call to cancel, asking residents to stay safe.

The city is inviting people to attend next week’s cookout instead. It will be held at Mason at Van Dorn on May 29 at 6 p.m. There will be free food, games, activities, and giveaways. It’s also a chance to meet your neighbors and learn about what the city offers.

“These events have connected with over 20,000 residents and now have the backing of the City Manager’s Office,” the department says.

The series runs through July 1, with events planned all over Alexandria. Anyone can come to any or all of the cookouts, and each one showcases different city departments.

You can find the full schedule below if you want to go to future cookouts.
