On Tuesday (July 9), Archer Hotel Old Town Alexandria officially took over operations at the 107-room hotel that was previously home to the Lorien Hotel & Spa (1600 King Street) for 15 years.

Jomarice Jequan Evans, 27, was arrested with three juveniles after allegedly robbing a Virginia ABC store at 3161 Duke Street, fleeing in a stolen car and then crashing into multiple cars before being arrested on foot in Del Ray.

World Day of Remembrance is an annual event where we honor those whose lives were prematurely ended after being struck by a person driving. This year is particularly painful and sad as we think about the recent death of a 13-year-old Frost middle school student who was struck and killed by a person driving a truck on Pickett Road. We will also honor the nearly 30 other people (as of today’s date) who have been killed on Northern Virginia streets while, walking, biking, or rolling since last year’s day of remembrance.

A Springfield man was found guilty of stealing thousands of dollars of liquor from ABC stores in the city, and is scheduled to appear again for other suspected incidents in Arlington and Fairfax Counties.
The 40-year-old man was found guilty on Monday (July 8) of petit larceny for stealing liquor from the Virginia ABC store at 825 S. Washington Street in Old Town on May 11, according to court records.
The National Weather Service (NWS) warned that it is getting dangerously hot again today.
The NWS said the heat index value is upwards of 111 degrees around Northern Virginia as well as Maryland and D.C.
