The Old Town North Harris Teeter could be sold and possibly rebranded if a new merger goes through.

The Washington Business Journal reported that Kroger Co. will be selling off multiple Harris Teeter locations, including one in Alexandria, if the acquisition of rival Albertsons Cos. Inc goes through.

Kroger owned Harris Teeter, among other brands, while Albertsons owns Safeway, Balducci’s and Supervalu.

The merger would allow Kroger to acquire all outstanding shares of Albertsons, but is currently in litigation after the Federal Trade Commission sued to block the merger. The Washington Business Journal said the sale is part of a bid to win regulators’ approval for the acquisition.
