Businesses in Alexandria are asking residents to donate costumes for low-income kids ahead of Halloween.

The 13th annual drive is being organized by the Del Ray Business Association (DRBA). Costumes for older kids — “tweens and teens” — are in particular demand, organizers said.

Sicilian Pizza in Del Ray is still working through the ABC permitting process, but if approved, manager David Turker wants to start delivering pizza and beer.

“Our thinking is: beer and pizza go together,” Turker said. “We’re hoping to add both beer and wine to the menu.”

Breakfast cafe Stomping Ground now has a southern cuisine-focused dinner menu twice a week.

The local favorite tested the waters with an evening menu at its Tysons Galleria location, but dinner is now available at the original location at 2309 Mount Vernon Avenue in Del Ray. Stomping Ground is open for dinner on Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays from 5:30-9:30 p.m.

The new location at 2307A Mount Vernon Avenue is now open from 7 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Monday, Wednesday, Thursday and Friday and from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. on weekends, though the website notes the restaurant could close early on weekends if it sells out of bagels.
