The Alexandria Police Department says that the at-large suspect in last month’s shooting homicide in a parking garage at the MGM National Harbor has ties across the Woodrow Wilson Bridge in Alexandria.
Neal is accused of shooting and killing 37-year-old Daniel Antonio Thomas, of D.C., in a parking garage in the 100 block of MGM National Avenue on May 11. PGPD said in a release that Thomas died of several gunshot wounds.

Outgoing Alexandria Mayor Justin Wilson publicly criticized a mailer for Vice Mayor Amy Jackson‘s mayoral campaign that used a photo of former Fire Chief Corey Smedley with her at a city event.
Wilson said at the end of last night’s City Council meeting that the integrity of the city government is at stake, and that it should be insulated from the “vagaries of politics to the extent possible.” Without calling out Jackson by name, he described the mailer and said that former Chief Smedley did not give his permission to be in the ad.
The Alexandria Police Department (APD) is conducting a death investigation at the Inova Alexandria Hospital (4320 Seminary Road) after a man was found dead from a gunshot wound in the hospital parking lot.
Scanner indicated there were reports of a black Mercedes dropping the victim off around 2 a.m. The man was found with a gunshot wound in the visitor’s parking lot around 3 a.m.

Jacinta Greene says that her two three-year terms on the Alexandria School Board have prepared her for City Council.
Greene faces 10 opponents for the six City Council spots in contention for the June 18 primary. She’s running against four incumbent City Council Members, against a fellow School Board Member, two candidates who are running for their second chance at the nomination after losing in 2021, and some newcomers. She’s raised about $50,000 for her campaign, and as of June 5 has about $31,000 in the bank, according to recently released quarterly finance reports.
Teachers and other Alexandria City Public Schools (ACPS) community members spoke at a School Board meeting last week to express anger and disappointment at restructuring inside school leadership.

An undisclosed amount of liquor was stolen from an Old Town restaurant after a suspect used a brick to smash a glass door, according to staff.
Workers at the restaurant said that at some point overnight a suspect smashed a side door to Mae’s Market & Cafe at 277 S. Washington Street and stole liquor from the bar.
