Alexandria now has 170 confirmed positive cases of COVID-19, an addition of 21 cases since yesterday.
The first and only death of a city resident due to the virus was announced on April 6, and the Alexandria Health Department did not release any information regarding the resident.
As Easter approaches this Sunday, the city is advising residents to not observe in-person religious gatherings or meals.
“This means it is dangerous and illegal to have a home meal with more than 10 people who are not already family members living together, or for more than 10 people to gather for services,” the city advised in a news release. “To protect their congregations and communities, many services in Alexandria and around the world are being conducted online. Contact your place of worship or associated organizations to find out if such alternatives are available.”

- April 4 — The number of cases increases to 93
- April 5 — The number of cases increases to 104
- April 6 — The number of cases increases to 130
- April 7 — The number of cases increases to 141
- April 8Â — The number of cases increases to 149
- April 9 — The number of cases increases to 170
There have been 109 deaths and there are now more than 4,000 cases in Virginia, according to the Virginia Department of Health.

Potomac Harmony is Back! Following a gap year of competing, then virtual rehearsals during the pandemic, followed by the well-earned retirement of our long-term director, a year of a director search, Potomac Harmony hit the regional contest stage in Concord, North Carolina in March for the first time since 2018! It was exhilarating, reaffirming, and rewarding!
The chorus hit all of its goals, the biggest of which was to have fun and sing our best on contest stage — we did both! Because we earned a score over 400 points, our new Director, Allison Lynskey, was awarded the Novice Director award, photo above.
