Alexandria now has 149 cases of COVID-19, an increase of eight positive case since yesterday.
Today also ends an eight day streak of double digit increases of new positive cases.
The first death of a city resident due to the virus was announced on April 6, and the Alexandria Health Department did not release any information regarding the resident.
The city is advising residents to follow state orders against gatherings of more than 10 people.
“This means it is dangerous and illegal to have a home meal with more than 10 people who are not already family members living together, or for more than 10 people to gather for services,” the city advised in a news release.

- March 31 — The number of cases increases to 44
- April 1 — The number of cases increases to 55
- April 2 — The number of cases increases to 67
- April 3 — The number of cases increases to 77
- April 4 — The number of cases increases to 93
- April 5 — The number of cases increases to 104
- April 6 — The number of cases increases to 130
- April 7 — The number of cases increases to 141
- April 8 — The number of cases increases to 149
There have been 75 deaths and there are now more than 3,600 cases in Virginia, according to the Virginia Department of Health.

Potomac Harmony is Back! Following a gap year of competing, then virtual rehearsals during the pandemic, followed by the well-earned retirement of our long-term director, a year of a director search, Potomac Harmony hit the regional contest stage in Concord, North Carolina in March for the first time since 2018! It was exhilarating, reaffirming, and rewarding!
The chorus hit all of its goals, the biggest of which was to have fun and sing our best on contest stage — we did both! Because we earned a score over 400 points, our new Director, Allison Lynskey, was awarded the Novice Director award, photo above.
