The Alexandria Police Department is investigating a regional larceny rampage, with three suspects accused of stealing thousands of dollars worth of products and fleeing in a stolen red Acura SUV with stolen license plates.
The first incident was reported on Monday, April 15, when $2,457 in merchandise was stolen from Home Depot at 400 S. Pickett Street. The suspects, three Black males, were videoed walking out of the store and into a red Acura MDX with stolen Maryland license plates, according to a recently released search warrant affidavit.
On April 19 (Thursday), Fairfax County Police reported a theft from the Kohl’s at 5701 Kingstowne Boulevard, and that three suspects left the scene in a red Acura SUV with Virginia tags.
On the early morning of April 20 (Friday), APD was notified that Virginia license plates were stolen from a gray 2014 Acura RDX in Culpeper. Video provided to APD of the incident showed “an SUV stop in the middle of the street and the front passenger exit and remove the front license plate,” according to the search warrant affidavit.
That same day, at around 6:40 a.m., three suspects robbed the 7-Eleven at 800 Franklin Street in Old Town of $5,760 worth of tobacco products. The products were stuffed into trash bags. The 7-Eleven manager informed police that the suspects arrived in a red Acura SUV with Virginia license plates. Police later determined that the Virginia plates belonged to a gray Acura in Culpeper.
Also on April 20, a larceny was reported at around 5 a.m. at a Wawa in Lanham, Maryland. Three Black male suspects wearing the “exact same clothing as the males in the 800 Franklin Street 7-Eleven incident,” arrived in a red Acura with the Culpeper plates, “entered the store and filled black trash bags with cigarettes,” police said in the search warrant affidavit.
APD was able to find “five additional reports with the Prince William County Police, Prince George’s County Police, and the Fairfax County Police between April 21, 2025, and April 27, 2025,” according to the search warrant affidavit.
With help from the National Insurance Crime Bureau, APD found that a 2019 red Acura MDX was reported stolen to the Metropolitan Police Department on April 8.
APD says that the vehicle has a distinctive red-and-white reflective stripe on the rear bumper.
