Answer: Despite the pandemic, or partly because of it, the seller’s market in real estate has continued. A several-years-long trend toward fewer houses on the market has only become a more acute shortage. As we all obeyed stay-at-home orders, even fewer of us were selling our houses than in prior years.
The real estate market is still movin’ in Alexandria as we close out March. This past week, 65 properties were recently sold in Alexandria, including a $1.7 million seven-bedroom colonial.
As of March 21, Homesnap reports 338 homes listed for sale, including 252 condos, 46 detached homes and 40 townhomes.
It was quite a week in Alexandria.
Our top story this week was on a man who allegedly crashed his car headfirst into the Verizon store near Potomac Yard. The suspect was later arrested in North Carolina.

This week in Alexandria, there are more than 250 properties available to rent, according to Homesnap, including 97 rentals listed in the past month.
These range from a $6.9K/month two-bedroom fully furnished penthouse in The Oronoco to a $1.4K/month “junior” one-bedroom apartment across from Holmes Run Creek.
