Alexandria is calling on artists, makers and small businesses to apply for vendor spots at PatCon 2026, the city’s grassroots anime festival.

Vendor registration is open now through Jan. 23 for the festival, which is happening from 11 a.m.-6 p.m. Feb. 7 at the Patrick Henry Recreation Center at 4653 Taney Avenue. The annual celebration is hosted by the recreation center’s Anime Society and is free to attend.

Alexandria residents will have the opportunity to directly engage with their elected officials at a City Council town hall scheduled for Saturday, Oct. 4, from 1 to 3 p.m. at the Patrick Henry Recreation Center.

The upcoming session will be the city’s third town hall of the year, following gatherings in March and June that drew dozens of residents and addressed topics ranging from ward redistricting to Old Town train tracks.

Due to inclement weather, Alexandria’s Department of Recreation, Parks, and Cultural Activities (RPCA) has been forced to cancel Wednesday’s (June 18) Community Cookout at the Patrick Henry Rec. Center (4643 Taney Ave.).

Celebrating its 18th Annual Community Cookout Series, this marks the fourth time this year that RPCA has had to cancel a cookout due to weather. With free food, games, and more, the annual series of cookouts began in late April, aiming to connect residents with their city government and leaders.

Patrick Henry K-8 School (4643 Taney Avenue) is dismissing students and staff early Thursday (June 5) due to issues with its air conditioning system.

Due to temperatures exceeding 80 degrees inside the building, students will be dismissed at 1:30 p.m. All school-related events at Patrick Henry Recreation Center are also canceled.
