Alexandria residents will have the opportunity to directly engage with their elected officials at a City Council town hall scheduled for Saturday, Oct. 4, from 1 to 3 p.m. at the Patrick Henry Recreation Center.
The upcoming session will be the city’s third town hall of the year, following gatherings in March and June that drew dozens of residents and addressed topics ranging from ward redistricting to Old Town train tracks.
Mayor Alyia Gaskins, Vice Mayor Sarah Bagley, and all City Council members will attend the event at the recreation center, located at 4653 Taney Ave., to discuss issues affecting residents and provide updates on upcoming city projects and initiatives.
The town hall format will allow residents to submit questions for council members to address during the two-hour session. To maximize response time, organizers are encouraging attendees to submit questions in advance through a registration form available on the city’s website.
For those who prefer to ask questions on-site, city staff will provide index cards for written submissions during the Oct. 4 event. Council members will read submitted questions aloud and respond to as many as time permits.
The city is offering free interpretation services for residents who need language assistance. Those requiring interpretation should email [email protected] or call 703-746-3960 to arrange for an interpreter.
Attendance is limited to in-person participation, with no online streaming option available. Free parking is available at the recreation center.
Following the town hall, the city plans to post a full video recording of the event online at alexandriava.gov/Dockets and on the city’s YouTube channel for residents who were unable to attend.
