Inova Health Center — Oakville recently celebrated a milestone.
The health center opened to the public last November, and since then, more than 40,000 patients have received emergency, primary, specialty and surgical care, according to the hospital system.
Alexandria leaders will discuss the early childhood initiatives across the city in a first-ever series of conversations.
The Kids’ First Years (KFY) State of Early Childhood 2025 event will be held at First Baptist Church (2922 King Street) from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Tuesday, Oct. 7. Mayor Alyia Gaskins will kick off the free event with opening remarks, along with KFY CEO Michelle Smith Howard. The event is intended to bring together city leaders, educators, and advocates to “build a thriving early childhood system that fuels the city’s economy, strengthens the workforce and supports every family,” according to the nonprofit.
An employee at Inova Alexandria Hospital has been fired, and the Alexandria Police Department is investigating after a patient’s credit cards were stolen from a room at the hospital and used at a nearby store.
A woman in hospital scrubs with an Inova lanyard around her neck was later identified by an Inova Alexandria Hospital staffer, according to a recently released search warrant affidavit. The police have filed no charges, and although Inova did not disclose the employee’s job title, the hospital system confirmed that the employee is no longer employed at the hospital.

Inova opened a new urgent care center in Alexandria’s West End on Monday (Dec. 23).
The Inova-GoHealth Urgent Care opened at 4600 Kenmore Avenue in the Seminary Plaza shopping center, and it’s the ninth center to open this year in Virginia.
The ribbon was cut at Inova Health Center – Oakville today, promising a future of emergency and outpatient services for many neighborhoods in and around Alexandria.
The facility officially opens on Nov. 6 at 7 a.m., offering a 24/7 emergency department, outpatient surgery, specialty care and more.
After nearly three years of construction, Inova Health Center — Oakville will be unveiled in a ribbon cutting on Thursday (Oct. 31).
The $300 million Oakville Triangle project at the corner of Swann Avenue and Richmond Highway includes more than 1 million square feet of residential space dedicated to apartments and townhomes, the new 93,000-square-foot health center (400 Fannon Street) with a comprehensive emergency room and 55,000 square feet of retail.
