Four suspects were arrested on Memorial Day after allegedly robbing a Virginia ABC store in the West End, fleeing in a stolen car and then crashing into multiple cars before being arrested on foot in Del Ray.

The Alexandria Police Department notified dispatch of a stolen white Hyundai Elantra traveling northbound on Quaker Lane and Seminary Road. The Elantra with Maryland tags was stolen out of Prince George’s County, and crashed into a parked vehicle a mile-and-a-half later at Fontaine Street and W. Braddock Road.

A 21-year-old man is being held without bond after allegedly shooting a man in the city’s Arlandria neighborhood on Sunday afternoon (May 19).

A man was shot in the left knee in the 3800 block of Executive Avenue at around 12:50 p.m., according to the Alexandria Police Department scanner. The victim and witnesses told police that the suspect lives nearby and fled into his apartment.

After an extensive search with a K-9 officer, no arrest was made this morning after a man blocked the exit of an Arlandria apartment complex parking lot and allegedly brandished a firearm against two women who were trying to leave.

The incident occurred at around 12:45 a.m. in the 500 block of Four Mile Road. The victims called 911 to report that a Black man in a white tank top was holding a handgun and screaming for them to get out of their car.

An inmate at the Alexandria jail is being held without bond after allegedly assaulting his court-appointed attorney during his arraignment on Thursday morning, according to the Alexandria Sheriff’s Office.

The suspect allegedly assaulted his attorney in a conference room during his video arraignment, according to ASO. The attorney was treated at the scene and declined to press charges.

Alexandria resident David Marshall, 57, has been arrested on felony and misdemeanor charges for allegedly assaulting law enforcement during the Jan. 6 riot in 2021.

Marshall was arrested on May 1 for multiple alleged assaults on law enforcement officers and on a member of the news media, according to the Department of Justice.

Francis Deonte Rose was found guilty today of two counts of aggravated murder in the 2022 shooting deaths of two construction workers in the West End. The Commonwealth Attorney’s Office is now seeking a life sentence.

After a four-day-long trial, the jury found Rose guilty of two counts of aggravated murder, two counts of use of a firearm in commission of a felony and unlawful entry. He was found not guilty of burglary.

After missing an important mayoral debate this week due to a “freak accident” while canvassing that led to his hospitalization, Steven Peterson says that he’s done sitting on the sidelines.

Peterson said that got 10 stitches in his nose and suffered a concussion after his 105-pound Golden Retriever chased a squirrel and he face-planted on a gravel path at the West End Farmer’s Market on Sunday. He said that the leash was wrapped around his legs and that he flipped over after the dog bolted.

No charges were filed against a man arrested for a suspected misdemeanor assault and battery on Mount Vernon Avenue in Del Ray on Sunday.

A passerby called 911 at around 1:30 p.m. to report seeing a man allegedly position himself behind a woman and then rub “himself all over her” on the sidewalk in the 2400 block of Mount Vernon Avenue, according to Alexandria Police Department dispatches.
