No arrest has been made, but the Alexandria Police Department is investigating a connection between a break-in at a restaurant in Potomac Yard and a nearby apartment complex earlier this month.

The incidents occurred in the evening and early morning hours of June 30 and July 1, according to a recently released search warrant affidavit.

The Alexandria Police Department (APD) said Alexandria resident Earl Lucas was arrested after the man allegedly hit a teen with his car on Duke Street and fled the scene.

In a release, APD said officers responded to a report of a hit-and-run around 12:26 a.m. on Sunday, July 21, at the intersection of Duke and Jordan Streets. APD said a passing motorist’s dashcam helped police identify Lucas.

D.C. news channel FOX5 is bringing its Zip Trip program to Alexandria’s Del Ray neighborhood on Friday.

Zip Trip is a program that tours locations around the region every Friday over the summer to highlight community activities and the people who make the town. The program is set to run from 7-11 a.m. near St. Elmo’s Coffee in Del Ray (2300 Mt Vernon Avenue).

The Alexandria Police Department (APD) is investigating a death at the former Landmark Mall construction site around 7:30 a.m. this morning.

A vehicle was involved in the death of a 30-year-old male who suffered a vehicle-related head injury at the 5701 Duke Street construction site, according to scanner traffic.

Interior work is underway at Omar’s Pitas and Platters (3100 Richmond Hwy). The restaurant is is expected to open later this year.
