The most festively decorated pop-up bar in Alexandria is returning this month.

It’s the fourth year in a row that “Joy on the Avenue” will open for the holidays at 2312 Mount Vernon Avenue in Del Ray.

The pop-up rotates themes seasonally, and just shut down after Halloween.  Owner Bill Blackburn of the Homegrown Restaurant Group says that the plan is to reopen on Friday, Nov. 22.

Blackburn said there will be a refreshed menu and holiday decorations. He also said that the pop-up bar, like the lighting of the Del Ray Christmas tree, is now a tradition for the neighborhood.

“Joy on the Avenue is a reminder that no matter what happens, we keep moving forward,” Blackburn said. “We will stylishly celebrate Christmas and all these traditions with our friends, family and neighbors.”

Joy on the Avenue will stay up until the first week in January, when it will wrap with the annual Festivus party.
