Eras, a Taylor Swift-themed popup bar, is opening next week on Mount Vernon Avenue in Del Ray.
While still under construction, owner Bill Blackburn said that each section of the seasonal popup at 2312 Mount Vernon Avenue represents one of Swift’s albums — Fearless, Speak Now, Red, 1989, Reputation and Folklore. There’s even a hall with portraits of her ex-boyfriends.
When construction wraps, the spring popup will resemble a mini-Eras tour and be open to the public on Saturday, March 1, Blackburn said.
“We always try to capture what’s popular in our culture, what people are thinking about,” Blackburn said. “Taylor Swift is a once-in-a-generation artist and we wanted to have some fun creating a bar around that.”
The cocktail and food menu is still in development, but drinks and dishes will be named after Swift’s songs, Blackburn said.
Incidentally, Swift made an appearance in Alexandria in 2009. She performed a concert at Bishop Ireton High School after the release of her Fearless album.
This isn’t the first Del Ray business to be inspired by the artist. Enchanted Hair at 2202 Mount Vernon Avenue is named after Swift’s song Enchanted.
