As options are whittled down, the public has its last chance on Thursday night (June 5) to weigh in on proposed redistricting changes for Alexandria City Public Schools.

Months of discussion have led to this point, and the School Board is conducting its second public hearing on the proposed maps. The School Board will make its final decision on redistricting at its meeting on June 12. The new boundaries will go into effect in August 2026.

The Northern Virginia Regional Commission (NVRC) is making it easier to share rain data and learn about flood patterns with the launch of the NoVa Flood Map rain gauge platform.

The collaborative platform, launched in March 2025, represents the region’s first synchronized rain gauge network, bringing together near real-time data from multiple localities across Northern Virginia.

Plans to add two express lanes from the Springfield Interchange to the Woodrow Wilson Bridge will be discussed in a public hearing next week in Alexandria.

The Virginia Department of Transportation is holding four public hearings starting this week, the last of which will talk about the controversial 11-mile project at the Nannie J. Lee Memorial Recreation Center on Wednesday, June 11. VDOT has been evaluating the project for three years, and groups say that it will create traffic bottlenecks if implemented.
