The new two-story 17,000 square-foot office has waterfront views and will open at 101 N. Union Street on August 1, just a block away from their location at 201 N. Union Street.


The City of Alexandria is estimated to receive $124,334 over the next 11 years from grocery store chain Kroger as part of an opioid-related settlement.

Kroger will pay approximately $10.5 million to the Commonwealth of Virginia over the next 11 years as part of a $1.4 billion settlement in a lawsuit that alleged the supermarket’s pharmacies helped fuel the opioid epidemic.

Additionally, two Board Members are not running for reelection, former Board Chair Meagan Alderton in District C, and Tammy Ignacio in District B.

While the local franchise survived an earlier round of closures, Alexandria Living Magazine reported that the location at 555 S. Van Dorn Street was on the chopping block according to new bankruptcy court filings.

The Alexandria City Council incumbents have held onto their nominations in the Democratic primary.

While incumbents John Chapman, Sarah Bagley, Kirk McPike and Canek Aguirre have secured their spots as the Democratic candidates, along with newcomer School Board Member Abdel Elnoubi and School Board Member Jacinta Greene.


Alexandria City Council Member Alyia Gaskins defeated her two Democrat rivals on Tuesday, effectively becoming mayor-elect as she faces no opposition in November.

The win makes Gaskins the first Black woman to be mayor of the city.
