It was another spooktacular Halloween on picturesque Lee Street in Old Town.
Thousands of costumed revelers filled their sacks with candy in the annual tradition.
Like many homeowners, Brenda Gianiny and her boyfriend spent a pretty penny on candy this year — approximately $1,100.
“This street does so well because, as Washingtonians, we’re all super divided politically, but everyone loves Halloween,” Gianiny said. “It’s for the kids. It’s just about having a good time.”
U.S. Sen. Mark Warner (D-VA), who dressed as a scary chef, lives on Lee Street and also spent more than $1,000.
“In years past we’ve had candy for 2,500 people,” Warner said. “I think today might be an all-time high.”
