A 49-year-old Alexandria woman and her 40-year-old boyfriend are being held without bond after she allegedly encouraged him to pay for sex with her juvenile daughter.

The mother was arrested Oct. 10 and charged with production of child pornography and possession/distribution of child pornography. The male suspect, who lives in Manassas, was arrested Oct. 11 and charged with rape, aggravated sexual battery, indecent liberties with a child under 15 and possession of child pornography.

There’s a 60% chance of precipitation, with an accumulation of up to a quarter-inch. Thursday night, rain will continue until around 4am, with patchy fog after 9pm and low temperatures near 45°F. A northeast wind of 7 mph will persist, while the chance of precipitation rises to 90%, and new amounts may reach half an inch.


BRABO Brasserie at 1600 King Street is getting replaced with a new location from the Midwest breakfast/brunch restaurant chain HomeGrown: A Daytime Eatery.

The restaurant is located inside the Archer Hotel Old Town Alexandria, which took over the space from Lorien Hotel and Spa earlier this year.


A proposal for a new townhouse development scored a unanimous Planning Commission recommendation in spite of some tense discussion and pushback from neighbors.

The proposal would see seven new townhomes built at 5216 Seminary Road. Each home will be three stories plus a roof deck and garage, with one unit set aside as affordable.


 

Despite mixed community reaction, Alexandria City Public Schools Superintendent Melanie Kay-Wyatt included the conversion of Jefferson-Houston PreK-8 IB School into a middle school and Patrick Henry K-8 School into an elementary school in her proposed 10-year Capital Improvement Program budget.
