Thousands of additional Dominion Energy customers are experiencing power outages Tuesday morning (Sept. 8) after an earlier outage tied to a transformer.
As of 11 a.m., more than 4,300 customers are without power in North Ridge, Fairlington/Bradlee, Seminary Hill, Taylor Run, Rosemont and Del Ray. Dominion Energy attributed the outage to a circuit being out and estimated that restoration would happen between 2-5 p.m.
During the earlier outage Tuesday morning, over 6,900 Dominion Energy customers were without power at the peak. Most outages were resolved around 9 a.m. and were concentrated around Richmond Highway in Potomac Yard and Del Ray as well as Old Town North.
On X, Councilman Abdel Elnoubi said the cause for the outages was likely a blown transformer on Mount Vernon Avenue.According to the scanner traffic, the Alexandria Fire Department had responded to a transformer fire at Mount Vernon Avenue and E. Nelson Avenue just before 7 a.m.
