After months of interior renovations, Pak Soii Izakaya and Bar is soft-opening at 1909 Mount Vernon Avenue in Del Ray on Saturday, Oct. 17.

Owner Jay Chainam tells ALXnow that it’s been a lot of work to get the restaurant up and running, and that he and his staff are excited. Earlier this month, Chainam and restaurant co-owner Supattra Pummora held a pop-up to finalize the menu for Pak Soii Izakaya and Bar at their sister restaurant, Gin Ramen & Asian Tapas (500 John Carlyle Street).

“We did a lot of mill work inside the restaurant, and that took a lot of time,” Chainam said. “The feedback from customers on the menu was awesome, and now we’re ready to go.”

The restaurant’s soft opening was announced on social media. It was previously home to Zuki Moon, which closed in January.

“Inspired by the heart of Thai street alleys and the cozy charm of Japanese Izakayas, we bring you bold flavors, crafted drinks, and warm vibes right in the heart of Bangkok,” Pak Soii Izakaya and Bar said on Facebook.

Chainam and Pummora also own Tsunami in Frederick, Maryland.

Pak Soii Izakaya and Bar will be open from 4 to 9 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 17. After that, the restaurant will be open seven days a week for lunch from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. and for dinner from 4:30 to 9:30 p.m.
