Yesterday’s rain was relatively mild, but the National Weather Service (NWS) warns the worst of Tropical Storm Debby’s impact is still ahead.

The region is under a Hazardous Weather Outlook for today and tonight, with scattered instances of flooding possible. The NWS forecast calls for a 70% chance of precipitation tonight, with rainfall amounts between a tenth and a quarter of an inch, though it could be worse in some places.

Tonight that goes up to an 80% chance of precipitation and 90% tomorrow. That likelihood goes down starting Friday night with a sunny Saturday in the forecast.

The City of Alexandria distributed sandbags yesterday and is doing so again from 3-7 p.m. today at 133 South Quaker Lane.

“Sandbags will be available on a first-come, first-served basis, with a limit of five per address,” a release said. “Proof of residency or business in Alexandria is required.”
