The National Weather Service’s coastal flooding outlook has become more severe in Alexandria.
A Coastal Flood Warning has been issued for Alexandria through 10 a.m. Friday. Forecasters expect tidal flooding to cause up to one foot of inundation above ground level in low-lying areas around the Potomac River. The warning especially applies to high tide, which are at 7:22 a.m. and 7:45 p.m. Thursday.
“Water is expected to approach buildings near King Street and Union Street,” the NWS said.

Take the necessary actions to protect flood-prone property. If travel is required, do not drive around barricades or through water of unknown depth.
