Alexandria City Public Schools (ACPS) Superintendent Melanie Kay-Wyatt announced that the schools will have a half-day so students and staff can return home before an anticipated winter storm.
In a message sent out at 5:25 p.m. today (Monday), Kay-Wyatt wrote that schools will dismiss around noon before the storm hits. It’s estimated Alexandria could see as much as 4-6 inches of snow.
Kay-Wyatt’s message is shared below:
Dear Alexandria City Public Schools Families and Staff,
All Alexandria City Public Schools (ACPS) schools and all offices will operate on a half-day schedule for Tuesday, February 11, 2025, due to the forecasted inclement weather schedule to begin in the early afternoon. Operating on a half-day schedule with an early closure will allow students and staff to safely make it home before conditions worsen. Please know that the forecast continues to fluctuate and we will monitor and provide any updates as needed. We encourage families to have an alternative plan for an earlier pick-up should the weather drastically change in the morning hours while schools are open.
The following are the school dismissal times for tomorrow:

- There will be no P.M. VPI
- A.M. Early Childhood Special Education (ECSE) will dismiss at 11:35 a.m.

- Elementary & K-8 Schools will dismiss at 11:35 a.m.
- Middle Schools will dismiss at 12:15 p.m.

Thank you and please use caution on your way home.
Sincerely,
Dr. Melanie Kay-Wyatt
