Winter Storm Watch issued ahead of Tuesday snow

While it’s mostly clear blue skies today, the forecast calls for a couple inches of snow tomorrow afternoon.

The National Weather Service has issued a Winter Storm Watch for Alexandria and other nearby localities. Snow is expected to start tomorrow afternoon and continue through Wednesday.

A total of 4-6 inches is possible through Wednesday morning, which could lead to school delays, early dismissals or cancellations. A mix of rain and snow is expected to continue all day Wednesday.

Thursday night’s forecast also calls for a mix of rain and snow, becoming all rain after 7 p.m.

* IMPACTS…Plan on slippery road conditions. The hazardous conditions could impact the Tuesday evening and Wednesday morning commutes.

* ADDITIONAL DETAILS…Precipitation begins as light snow Tuesday afternoon. A steady snow follows Tuesday evening into Tuesday night, and the snow could be heavy at times. Additional wintry precipitation could continue into Wednesday morning.
