A 52-year-old Alexandria man suffered minor injuries after being sprayed in the face with an unknown substance and then robbed in Fairlington, according to the Alexandria Police Department.
APD reported the incident at around 2 a.m. on Monday via Twitter. Police said that three unknown suspects approached the victim and that one of them sprayed him in the face before he was robbed of personal items.
“The victim was transported to the hospital, for evaluation after being sprayed with an unknown substance,” APD spokesman Marcel Bassett told ALXnow. “This is still an active investigation, but at this time no arrest(s) have been made in connection with this incident.”
Police did not release any information on the suspects.

Four Alexandria teenagers were robbed by six masked suspects on Monday (July 31) at a bus stop in the West End, according to police.
The juvenile victims, all 16 years of age, were not injured in the incident. At around 9:15 p.m., the victims were waiting at a bus stop near the intersection of Duke Street and N. Donelson Street when the suspects pulled up in a black Toyota Corolla.
The victims told police that four men and two women wearing ski masks got out of the car and then stole money and personal items. No one was injured and no weapons were used by the suspects, according to police.
A father of one of the victims reported the incident on NextDoor.

A 28-year old Alexandria man suffered non-life threatening injuries after a robbery at a high rise apartment building in the West End early Monday night.
The incident occurred at around 6:30 p.m. in the 6000 block of Edsall Road. One suspect is in custody and the other remains at large. The suspect in custody lives in the apartment building and was positively identified by the victim, according to dispatch reports.
The Alexandria Police Department did not release information on the suspect arrested, what he was charged with and what was allegedly stolen.

A woman was allegedly punched in the face and robbed of her phone in the West End on Sunday night.
The incident occurred at around 11:45 p.m. in the 300 block of S. Reynolds Street. The 37-year-old victim was approached by three males and a female, got punched and was then robbed of her phone, according to dispatch reports.
The woman told police that the suspects were juveniles. She was treated for a broken nose by paramedics.

Updated at 3 p.m. Three men broke into the 7-Eleven in Del Ray this morning, minutes after another 7-Eleven was robbed at gunpoint in the West End.
The suspects broke into the store at 2018 Mount Vernon Avenue in Del Ray at around 2:15 a.m., according to the Alexandria Police Department. Two men wearing all black broke into the closed business while a third suspect remained in the driver’s seat of a silver Mercedes with D.C. tags. The ATM machine in the store was broken into and an undisclosed amount of cash was taken, according to store staff.
At around 2:45 a.m., the 7-Eleven at 4610 Kenmore Avenue, which is open 24 hours, was robbed by three men wearing all black. One of the men displayed a handgun and they made off with an undisclosed amount of cash.
It is not clear if the incidents are related. No one was injured in either incident.

(Updated 1:35 p.m.) A man was robbed at gunpoint yesterday morning in the area of E. Braddock Road and Commonwealth Avenue in Del Ray.
The victim called police from his car and reported that he was robbed of $947 in cash by two masked men in dark clothing, according to dispatch reports. No one was injured in the incident.
The victim reported that the suspects ran off in separate directions. A K-9 unit was deployed, but no arrests were made.

Armed robbers made off with an undisclosed amount of cash last night after holding up Rocklands Barbecue & Grilling Company (25 S. Quaker Lane).
Two men with guns took “everything from the safe,” according to dispatches from the Alexandria Police Department. The suspects fled the area in a vehicle that drove east toward the King St-Old Town Metro station.
No injuries were reported, no arrests have been made, and the incident is under investigation.
The restaurant, which closed after the incident, is located around the corner from APD headquarters (3600 Wheeler Avenue) and the Alexandria Commons Shopping Center.

A U.S. Postal Service employee was robbed at gunpoint of their phone and keys in the Lynhaven neighborhood on Saturday.
The victim was not injured in the incident, which occurred at around 12:15 p.m.
According to dispatch reports, the victim was robbed by a male with a gun, and the suspect fled the scene in a black BMW. Police said on the scanner that the victim was robbed of their keys, which can open any U.S. Postal Service mailboxes in the country.

A 27-year-old Maryland man has been charged with robbing two separate Alexandria banks in March and April.
Jaquan Royal, of Prince George’s County, was arrested on May 24 in connection to the robbery at the Wells Fargo Bank in Arlandria (3506 Mount Vernon Avenue) on March 23, and at the Bank of America in Carlyle (415 John Carlyle Street) on April 3.
In both cases, the suspect allegedly handed the teller a note demanding cash and fled with an undisclosed amount. No one was injured in either robbery.
Royal is being held in another jurisdiction and goes to court on June 12.

(Updated 2 p.m.) The Alexandria Police Department is responding to another bank robbery at the Wells Fargo Bank at 3506 Mount Vernon Avenue.
The same bank was hit with a robbery in March.
According to the scanner, the man walked into the bank and passed a note to a clerk. Alexandria Police spokesman Marcel Bassett said an unknown amount was handed over to the suspect. Police said on Twitter that no injuries were reported in connection with the incident.
Bassett said around 2 p.m. that police had taken a person of interest into custody but are awaiting positive ID before any formal charges are made.
