After a year in operation, Pendleton Carryout Co. continues to grow with the introduction of breakfast options, app-based delivery services, and more.

On Friday, the food incubator at 807 Pendleton Street in the Braddock neighborhood debuted its brunch menu, serving scratch-made biscuits from Freed’s Biscuit Company. Only available on weekends until noon, customers can order biscuit breakfast sandwiches stuffed with everything from bacon, egg, and cheese to plant-based Beyond Meat patties.

(Updated at 9:30 a.m.) The annual Dance America Rapper Tournament (DART) will take over several pubs in Alexandria this Saturday, October 26, with the public invited to witness the fun.

From 1 p.m. until late into the evening, the sword dancing competition tour will kick off across three pubs in Old Town and end with a celebration at the Durant Arts Center (1605 Cameron Street).

Sicilian Pizza in Del Ray is still working through the ABC permitting process, but if approved, manager David Turker wants to start delivering pizza and beer.

“Our thinking is: beer and pizza go together,” Turker said. “We’re hoping to add both beer and wine to the menu.”

Breakfast cafe Stomping Ground now has a southern cuisine-focused dinner menu twice a week.

The local favorite tested the waters with an evening menu at its Tysons Galleria location, but dinner is now available at the original location at 2309 Mount Vernon Avenue in Del Ray. Stomping Ground is open for dinner on Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays from 5:30-9:30 p.m.

Car-Free Block of King Street Planned — “Members of Alexandria’s City Council Wednesday night OK’d a proposal by City staff to begin laying the groundwork for a pilot program that will see a part of lower King Street closed to cars on weekends, beginning in April. The pilot project would close the 100 block of King Street to traffic on weekends through October.” [Alexandria Living Magazine, Patch]

For Sale: Historic House With Notorious Past — “The nonprofit organization that owns the site of one of the most notorious slave pens in the nation has put the building and its basement museum up for sale, after struggling for years to pay for the mortgage, property taxes and repairs. A year after Augie’s Mussel House opened for a few months as a pop-up at 1106 King Street, the restaurant is back with a permanent opening planned for Monday, Oct. 7.

“We’re ready,” said Rocky Martin, general manager for the restaurant. “When you come in, try the mussels with all of the different sauces.”
