(Updated at 4:49 p.m.) The Alexandria Police Department officially rolled out its body-worn camera program today, with the goal of outfitting 30 officers per month.

Full deployment is expected by January, and officers will immediately begin using the cameras after eight hours of training.

According to the scanner, multiple gunshots were reported by employees at the McDonalds at the Bradlee Shopping Center — where an ACHS student was murdered last year — around 3:40 p.m.

A clerk at the 7-Eleven convenience store at 3023 Duke Street was shot in the leg in a robbery early this morning.

At around 2 a.m., a man dressed in black wearing a black mask went into the store, displayed a handgun and walked behind the counter, according to staff. The suspect reportedly shot into the floor behind the counter and the bullet ricocheted and hit the clerk in the leg.

A 58-year-old Alexandria man suffered non-life-threatening injuries after being shot in the hallway of a Landmark area apartment building early Thursday night, according to the Alexandria Police Department.

Police said the incident occurred shortly after 5 p.m. on the ninth floor of an apartment building in the 300 block of S. Reynolds Street.

A 47-year-old Alexandria man was arrested last month for allegedly stealing an Amazon package after delivering food to an Arlington apartment complex.

On Saturday, March 18, the victim reported to APD that a pink Amazon package containing a silver Apple keyboard was stolen from the mailbox area of an apartment in the 2900 block of S. Columbus Street in Arlington.

No one was injured after the Bank of America at 415 John Carlyle Street was robbed late Monday morning.

Alexandria Police were dispatched to the bank at around 11:15 after a man wearing a black puffy jacket and a blue surgical face mask reportedly handed the teller a note demanding cash. The suspect fled the scene with an undisclosed amount of cash.
