A man remained hospitalized with serious, though non-life threatening, injuries after a crash on Yoakum Parkway yesterday, according to police.
The 300 block of Yoakum Parkway was closed in both directions around 5 p.m. yesterday (Monday), up to Stevenson Avenue, police tweeted. An adult male pedestrian was struck by a vehicle, police spokesman Lt. Courtney Ballantine told ALXnow, with serious but life-threatening injuries that left him hospitalized.

A group of teenagers allegedly led Virginia State Police on a high-speed chase off the highway and into the West End this past weekend.
Police were alerted to a stolen vehicle traveling north on I-95 early Saturday morning, according to Corinne Geller, a spokeswoman for Virginia State Police.

The car being chased wrecked shortly after noon and Virginia State Police took the suspect into custody “without incident,” according to Lt. Courtney Ballantine, a spokesman for the Alexandria Police Department.
Fox 5: No Additional Delays on Seminary — Alexandria’s Seminary Road controversy has taken another turn in the local TV news spotlight. This time, Fox 5 looked at the lane reduction issue and concluded that the brief periods of gridlock on the road during peak times are not, in fact, worse than it was when the Seminary was two lanes in both directions. Police say the stop of a stolen vehicle led to a short pursuit on foot and three arrests.
Around 9 p.m. yesterday (Sunday), police stopped a vehicle on the 3000 block of King Street — a bit down the road from T.C. williams High School — according to Lt. Courtney Ballantine, a spokesman for the Alexandria Police Department.
A 77-year-old Fairfax County man was struck and killed by a driver on Duke Street near the Alexandria Commons shopping center over the weekend.
The crash happened around 7:30 a.m. Saturday on Duke Street at Sweeley Street.
