Tobi needs a new set of wheels. The five-year-old Mini-Australian Shepherd was born without front legs, and his Alexandria owner has launched a GoFundMe campaign so that he can get a $2,350 wheelchair.

Alexandria resident Paige Bradford adopted Tobi from The Humane Society of North Texas in 2018. She’s an elementary school special education teacher in Arlington, and said that Tobi is also an emotional support animal.

Bonded buddies Cookie and Chispin are inseparable, and the pair are looking to be adopted from the Animal Welfare League of Alexandria.

Cookie, a 12-year-old terrier mix, reportedly likes nothing more than to hang out with her closest companion, Chispin, a 10-year-old female hound mix.

Nine-month-old Coco is so smart that folks might not know that that she’s blind. The pit bull terrier mix is up for adoption through the Animal Welfare League of Alexandria.

“At nine months old, Coco is an absolute bundle of energy, and she’s on the go so much that you might not notice at first that she’s blind,” said AWLA spokesperson Gina Hardter. “After all, she can find her favorite toys, treats and people with no trouble.”

Nine-year-old Chaquira and her eight-year-old daughter Princesa are inseparable, and the pair are looking for a new home via the Animal Welfare League of Alexandria.

AWLA took in Chaquira and Princesa with 12 other dogs from the Florida-based True and Faithful Pet Rescue Mission.

There’s no doubt that Gunner‘s gaze will bring a smile to your face, and the medium-sized terrier is up for adoption with the Animal Welfare League of Alexandria.

“Gunner is an energetic, intelligent young man who loves to show off his tricks for treats and shower his friends in kisses,” said Gina Hardter, a spokesperson for the AWLA, who says he is currently her favorite pet at the shelter. “I’m trying to teach him the command, ‘Give kisses,’ but he loves to kiss so much that he’s already way ahead of me.”

Need a new best friend? The Animal Welfare League of Alexandria says that their number of pet adoptions is up this year.

“It’s a very stressful time and a pet can really be a companion, they can provide support,” Gina Hardter, a spokesperson with the AWLA told ALXnow. “Even though this is a terrible time it’s been a wonderful time to show us just what is important in our lives, and one of those things is the unconditional love that a pet can give.”
