There are or have been 4,517 cases of COVID-19 in Alexandria since the first case was reported in March, according to the Virginia Department of Health.
The City says that community transmission has shifted from low to moderate and there are now about 20 cases being reported every day. That’s roughly the pace of new cases being reported during late July and August.

It was a historic week in Alexandria.
Alexandrians overwhelmingly helped reelect U.S. Senator Mark Warner and Congressman Don Beyer, and 80% of voters chose Democrat former Vice President Joe Biden for president over incumbent Republican President Donald Trump.
Two more Alexandria residents have died from COVID-19, and the total case count in the city since the pandemic started in March is now at 4,444. That’s an increase of 81 cases since Monday.
A woman and a man in their 80s are the latest victims of the virus, according to the Virginia Department of Health.

Updated at 10 p.m. on Nov. 5: Alexandria City Public Schools partially reopened today (Nov. 5) for less than 10 students with disabilities, and Superintendent Gregory Hutchings, Jr. told parents that this is but the first step of the reopening process.
When asked on social media how many students attended, ACPS responded that it was fewer than 10 students.

Alexandria Reaches Complete Count in 2020 U.S. Census — ” The Bureau’s Crystal City Area Census Office, which includes all of Alexandria, was the only such office in the Washington, D.C. metro region to count 100% of households by the time data collection ended on October 15. Senior Services of Alexandria urgently needs drivers to deliver thousands of weekly Meals On Wheels to senior residents in need.
“It takes less than two hours of your time to deliver meals,” according to SSA. “And don’t worry, we’ll train you.”
There are or have been 4,363 total cases of COVID-19 in Alexandria, which is an increase of 133 cases since last Monday, according to the Virginia Department of Health.
There have also been 325 total hospitalizations in the city (an increase of two hospitalizations since this time last week). The death count still stands at 74 with two probable cases associated with the virus.
