The Alexandria Police Department is asking for the community’s assistance in investigating multiple indecent exposure incidents that have occurred during early morning hours across three Alexandria neighborhoods.

The investigation appears to be connected to incidents ALXnow previously reported on June 25, when two indecent exposures occurred approximately half a mile apart in Rosemont during the early morning hours.

Alexandria police are urgently searching for Edith Walker, a 49-year-old woman who’s gone missing from the Taylor Run neighborhood. Walker was last seen near the 1100 block of E. Taylor Run Parkway.

Described as 5’3″ tall and 130 pounds with brown eyes and black hair, Walker’s disappearance is considered critical. The Alexandria Police Department is seeking the public’s help in locating her.

An indecent exposure incident was reported early this morning in Alexandria’s Rosemont neighborhood.

The incident was reported at approximately 5:45 a.m. in the area of Commonwealth Avenue and Linden Street, and then police were called again at around 6 a.m. in the area of Ramsey Street and Adams Avenue. No injuries were reported, and police canvassed the area for 45 minutes, according to the police scanner.

A former FedEx driver charged with grand larceny after more than $210,000 worth of cell phones were stolen from the company’s shipping facility in Alexandria admitted to his part in the scheme, according to the Alexandria Police Department.

The thefts began in December 2024, and the phones were in several packages intended for the Verizon Wireless store in Springfield (6432 Springfield Plaza) and were stolen from the FedEx shipping center at 4720 Eisenhower Avenue.

The Alexandria Police Department (APD) has removed from consideration a controversial request that would have granted school resource officers direct access to student records, according to Alexandria City Public Schools (ACPS).

Following the grilling of Alexandria Police Chief Tarrick McGuire by the City Council, the School Board unanimously voted last Thursday to extend the soon-to-expire two-year memorandum of understanding (MOU) between ACPS and the police. The six-month extension means that Alexandria City High School and the city’s middle schools will continue with their assigned school resource officers as is, while the details of the draft MOU are ironed out.

A Fairfax County man is out on bond after allegedly abducting and sexually assaulting two women at the Braddock Road and Potomac Yard Metro stations last month.

Jeffrey Gary, 35, a Georgetown Law graduate, was employed as an assistant division chief by the Federal Communications Commission up until his June 1 arrest. He was released Friday (June 13) on four bonds totaling $14,000, according to court records.

An Alexandria police officer and another driver have been transported to the hospital after a crash this morning in Old Town.

The crash between an Alexandria Police Department cruiser and a van was reported at around 10 a.m. near the intersection of S. Patrick Street (Route 1) and Franklin Street. The officer suffered a head injury, according to Alexandria Fire Department dispatches.
