Alexandria police officer charged with reckless driving after pursuit collision

An Alexandria police officer has been charged with reckless driving following a vehicle collision that occurred during a pursuit of a stolen vehicle in June.

Officer Damon Frazier was served a summons for reckless driving, a Class 1 misdemeanor, after the Alexandria Commonwealth’s Attorney reviewed the June 14 incident, according to a Friday press release from the Alexandria Police Department.

The collision occurred at approximately 10 a.m. at the intersection of Franklin and South Patrick streets while Frazier was actively pursuing a stolen vehicle.

Both Frazier and the civilian driver involved in the crash sustained minor injuries and were transported to a local hospital. No other injuries were reported.

Frazier, who joined the department on Oct. 30, 2023, remains on duty pending the outcome of an administrative review, police said.

The Alexandria Police Department said in the release that it “takes officer conduct and accountability seriously” and noted that all officers are required to complete Emergency Vehicle Operations Course training, which is designed to ensure safe driving practices during emergency and pursuit situations.

“The APD remains committed to transparency, public safety, and maintaining the trust of our community,” the department said.

ALEXANDRIA, VA – On Saturday, June 14, 2025, at approximately 10:00 a.m., an Alexandria Police officer was involved in a vehicle collision at the intersection of Franklin and South Patrick Streets, while actively pursuing a stolen vehicle.
