A man died Friday morning after jumping from a 15th-floor balcony while FBI agents were attempting to serve a criminal arrest warrant at the Alexander Apartments on King Street.
Federal investigators from the FBI’s Washington Field Office were executing a court-authorized criminal arrest warrant around 6 a.m. when the man went out a window onto the balcony and jumped from the 15-story balcony, according to an FBI statement released Friday afternoon.
The Alexander Apartments is a 16-story building constructed in 2007 with 263 units, according to CorporateHousing.com.
FBI agents unsuccessfully attempted to render lifesaving aid, but the man succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene, the FBI said. The Virginia Office of the Chief Medical Examiner will determine the cause of death.
The FBI thanked the Alexandria Police Department and Alexandria Fire Department for their immediate response and assistance.
The arrest warrant is sealed, and the man’s identification is pending notification of next of kin, according to the Alexandria Police Department.
